Few games have managed to do what Soul Calibur has done. Bringing story, weapons, incredible graphics, and amazingly intuitive controls to a fighting game makes this title a legend. Even today, compared to many fighters, SC stands as one of the best looking (and playing) games. Models are smooth and detailed, with superb textures in live world environments. I will go to the extent as to saying that no launch title in the history of video games has ever truly shown the power of the system that they are on better than SC.
Controls are as smooth as silk. After playing the game for some time, you will begin to pull off some highly respectable combos, which will leave your friends in awe. Some fighting games limit you to only 4 directions (back, forward, left, and right), but SC provides you with 8 different directions and will play a vital role in pulling off moves and defending your character.
SC doesn’t leave you with much replay value, aside from unlocking new characters. Mastering moves will take quite some time and is, depending on how much of a fighter fan you are, worth your time. Sorry for writing such a short review, but hopefully this will give you an idea of how good Soul Calibur II will be (before I review it).
