Yes, the arcade classics did come to the NES. I got it for free, from a friend, so no complaints here. The game started off as an early-80's arcade phenomenon and then was translated into a NES game for all to enjoy at home.
You can't get too complicated in the 80's right? Very simple story, Donkey Kong, kidnaps the Princess, not Bowser, and Mario has to save her. Now, in Donkey Kong Jr. you are Donkey Kong Jr., instead of his arch-villain Mario, and you have to save daddy. See how the tables turn.
The controls couldn't have been any simpler. A is used to jump, and you use the control pad to move. Sound easy enough for you?
The graphics for this 80's classic are fantastic, as good as most GBA games. Great colors, environments, and detailed characters make this an attractive game. While it's not too detailed, it's detailed enough for an arcade-turned-NES game.
My only big complaint is that this game is too short, though of course it does have a large amount of replay value. It took me 5 minutes to beat the first 3 levels. You have the choice of playing Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr., each having 4 different modes. Some of the modes are multiplayer.
Why did I enjoy the time that I spent playing Donkey Kong Classics? Simple, you bring the arcade classics home. Not only that, but you can play it in multiplayer modes. If you still have your NES, then I highly recommend that you find this game on EBay, at a local pawn shop, or at a local video game retailer, and buy it.
